This is a fun one featuring more Joes than you can shake a stick at. I haven't read all the G. I. Joe books yet, and I've heard that the "strategic specialist" is a go-to role for the reader in many of them; but in one of the major plot arcs of Everglades, utilizing your teammates feels like you're a teacher managing a class project in a psychotic kindergarten: you're sometimes stuck choosing between plans that sound equally insane, and it's fun watching them play out...disastrously, victoriously, or sometimes both! Whichever path you take, the book never gets boring, and it has a surprisingly high body count. My only real complaint is the underutilization of the major villains, although the action is bonkers enough to make up for it. If you only read 2 G. I. Joe gamebooks, make it Operation: Poison Dart and this one. |
