This murder mystery gamebook follows the component-heavy model initiated by Enid Blyton's Famous 5 Adventure Games. The book comes in a plastic wallet with a special die, three two-sided detective's notebook cards (each side showing a jumble of letters), four different colored clue overlays, a solution overlay, a photograph of the suspects and a murder attempts counter. At the start of play, the reader randomly selects one of the detective notebooks (there are six in all); this determines who the murderer is, meaning that replay value is quite high. During play, the clue overlays are sometimes used to reveal information hidden in the detective notebook card. The object of the game is to solve the mystery before the murder attempts counter reaches three, thus ending the main character's life.
