Demian's Thoughts:

This is a fairly good gamebook, though it has its flaws. The biggest problem is with the characters -- they're completely undefined and seem to have different personalities and goals depending on which path the reader takes. This is somewhat made up for by a nice variety of choices and a couple of novelties like the use of a secret code.

Fireguard's Thoughts:

At first this book has a fairly interesting premise. After all, how many people, especially in the age of Harry Potter, wonder about what they'd do if suddenly they had the power to do anything they wanted? Most of the book is actually spent running away from people who want your arcane powers, though. What's the point of a book called "Spellcaster" when you can't cast spells to protect yourself most of the time? (and by the way, Spellcaster is, for some reason, the name of the book itself) I found myself aching to reread the Kingdom of Sorcery trilogy to remember what a good book where I had magic powers was like.
