I thought this was one of the best gamebooks I've read. The writing is very good and very funny, with some clever twists and parodies of the format. The main character is generic so she's easy to identify with, but she still has a recognizable personality. The entries here are short, but that means there are many choices, and there are many fair, logical results, although the world isn't always 100% consistent. There are also some unsatisfying, abrupt endings, especially some positive endings that don't give enough info on what happens next. But overall this is a great gamebook that fans of CYOA novels should especially enjoy. You can see my map of the book here. |
