Adventures of You

In 1976, Vermont Crossroads Press printed Sugarcane Island, one of the first gamebooks ever written, as part of their Adventures of You series. In 1978, Archway apparently picked up the series and reprinted Sugarcane Island in paperback. As far as I can tell, this was the only Adventures of You book they printed; Journey Under the Sea was reprinted as a Choose Your Own Adventure book while Archway's later gamebooks (and Sugarcane Island itself) were released under the Which Way series title.

The information on this series is as complete and correct as my collection will allow. If I am wrong and there are other Archway Adventures of You reprints or if you can contribute information on the original Vermont Crossroads Press editions, please let me know by e-mailing me at demiankatz@gmail.com.

My Thoughts: This is historically a very important book, being one of the earliest gamebooks ever published. It was written in 1969 and first printed in 1976 by Vermont Crossroads Press. In 1978, it was reprinted as an Archway paperback, first under the Adventures of You banner and later without it. In 1982, the cover was slightly changed, and the book became part of the Which Way series. In 1986, the book was revised and expanded and published as Choose Your Own Adventure #62. This book wouldn't be particularly exceptional if it weren't among the first of its kind, but it's worth reading if only to see where it all started.
The Vermont Crossroads Press edition of this book is not part of my collection; the pictures of it are courtesy of Alec Fleschner.

Italian Translations

Sugarcane Island was translated into Italian as Avventure sull'isola and was eventually followed up by an original Italian gamebook called Il mistero del deserto dei cactus. I don't have copies of either of these books, unfortunately.
