Alternate Title: The Hound from Hell (literal English translation of title)

Guillermo's Thoughts:

Pablo Barrena's second entry in this series (after El caso Brackenstall) is another adaptation of a Sherlock Holmes story. This time, the author draws inspiration from "The Hound of the Baskervilles." Unfortunately, the book fails to live up to expectations. For starters, the story is pretty much impossible to understand if you have not read the original Holmes tale. Moreover, some of the paths follow the original story somewhat closely while others introduce major changes into the plot. While there is nothing wrong in principle with this kind of variation, it becomes very frustrating if it does not follow any logical principles, as is the case here. No matter which choices the reader makes, characters and situations seem to jump to the reader at random, so that reading the book several times feels like wading through a haphazard and incoherent mess.

In sum, I don't believe there is any reason to bother reading this book, especially when there is a significant number of good detective gamebooks out there.
